Craft Schedule

I set monthly goals of crafts I want to complete. Some months are better than others for actually completing them. This month I not only set the goals on my Crafts page, I also added them to my Outlook Calendar. I took the time to spread them out, taking into consideration the time I would have to dedicate to it per day. Generally I plan to crochet, knit or organize digital photos (this month) during the week and sew or quilt on the weekends. So far last weekend was mostly planning but I did get a few things done. The beginning of the

Christmas Table Runner

This table runner was found in a Quilter’s World magazine. I cut and sewed the tops for 3 of them in one weekend so I like that it was easy to create. The yellow stars in the center are appliqued. When I top stitched them I chose not to stitch the stars. On the second one I did I did a small stipple in them and I prefer how that turned out. The backing has gold thread through it and it’s beautiful. I used the binding method to leave 2″ extra wide all around and then just fold over and

German Baby Quilt

I completed this consigned project on September 14, 2013. The woman I made it for adored it. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out also. In the blue borders there is chocolate brown thread that writes out the “Piggies to Market” poem in German. I printed out the letters on the computer in the font and size I wanted. I traced it with pencil under the blue and then machine sewed the letters free-motion when it was on the frames. It may be hard to see in the photos but the inner square is Beatrix Potter coloured piggy fabric

This Little Piggy… Baby Quilt Reveal

I know I’ve been quiet for the last while but I have been really getting the house organized and the projects moving! It seems I can’t do and blog at the same time. This week I will reveal some of what I’ve been up to (when I remember to take photos). I had someone ask me to make an adorable “little piggy” themed baby blanket with the poem written in German. This is what I came up with… It was the first time I “wrote” on a quilt. It was so much fun! It is also the first quilt I

Bubble Bath Quilted Panel Blanket (Pink)

Over the Easter long weekend my mother-in-law and I went to a lovely quilt shop that was having a sale on panels. Great deals and I did purchase several. The thing is, I have never used a panel before and I was nervous to start on it. My new sewing buddy and I had a sewing day and I decided to take the plunge and finish this quilt. I was amazed at how quickly it sewed up using my Little Gracie II frame and a Kenmore sewing machine. The entire thing took one hour and maybe 30 minutes to bind.

June 2013 Completed Projects

I was very ambitious for my June 2013 goals. I should have known better than to make one so long. The warm weather makes it harder for me to get things in the house accomplished. It didn’t help that it was either humid or raining so painting the kids stove and table/chair set didn’t work since it wouldn’t have dried. It also didn’t help that my scanner/printer (which we haven’t used in years) isn’t working and I need to figure out why not and if I can fix it. I was able to find the software to download online but

UFO #6 Complete

I am making great progress on the UFO 13 in 2013 challenge. I just completed UFO #6 which was to piece the top of Christmas table runner for SIL #4. I thought this would be a funky version for her and her hubby. This makes my sixth UFO for the year and fourth Christmas table runner.

Giraffe Elephant Baby Quilt #2

I love how this panel turned out. The front and the back are both flannel and the border is a wide ribbon. I quilted it with invisible thread to trace the animals and the squares as well as a zig zag with the invisible thread around the border. Simple and ready for a baby to love.
