Kids, The Garage and Sewing Project Update

Holy heat wave here in Southern Ontario. When it’s hot out my brain gets mushy and I come up with little that is worthy of mentioning on the blog, especially since I don’t accomplish much when I’m too hot. Summer holidays have started this week for the children. Ava is now going into Grade 1 and Travis will enter full time Junior Kindergarten in September. I remember thinking when Travis was a baby that September 2012 would be so far away and here we are approaching it in a few months. Good thing about him being a January baby is

Weight and Craft Challenge Update

I’m doing all I can to stop thinking about and eating when it’s not a meal time. I think when you decide to lose a few pounds and watch what you eat and log calories that somehow this shifts to your craving part of the brain. It is at least that way with me. How do you keep on track for losing a few pounds? Today is the last day of May so I wanted to update you on my progress of the Small Projects Sew-Along I’ve been working on. I’m really pleased with the progress I’ve made. I do

Happy Victoria Day!

It’s a holiday Monday in Canada. Victoria day. Happy Victoria Day to my fellow Canadians – I hope you had a nice burst of heat as we did in Southwestern Ontario and that you enjoyed the extra time with your loved ones. I had a big task list that I wanted to get through with the extra day. I touched a little on each but none were fully completed. Here’s the run-down. 1. Garage – I’ve been following Org Junkie’s The Great Garage Clean Out Challenge. It’s very inspirational. We have a rafter that we rotate seasonal items onto. I

Halloween and Christmas

I’ve got that inspired bug about me. I’m working on the king sized quilt for my parents, finished Travis’s Halloween knight costume (crocheted), I’ve started one for my daughter, and just started organizing my office/craft room. One project for Christmas gift is done and I’m calling today to book our Christmas photos appointment. I know – crazy, right?! This morning I went through papers that were in the “to scrapbook but don’t really know what to do with it” pile and got the kids papers/art sorted by year. The plan is to organize books for each of them with their

Finished, New and Ongoing Project Updates

I’ve been accomplishing quite a few projects lately, some of which were not on the “to do list” but were so cute I had to do them! I did a baby blanket to give to new baby Adam (a future daycare client!). Great stash-buster of my baby yarns. I also “whipped up” a crayon wreath for the front door. To make the wreath, I purchased a pressed board wreath circle, hot glued a pack of 64 crayons. I added a few school cutouts (apple, school house, school bus) to the top and voila! Instant front door and Back-To-School wreath. My

Homemade 3rd Birthday Boy Gifts

The last several days, instead of blogging I have been finishing projects. I finished knitting the hat that was for a hat and scarf gift set for my future-brother-in law. The hat didn’t quite make the debut date but without the pressure I got it done and am glad I waited instead of working myself in a tizzy to get it done. The scarf is grey with the cranberry at the two ends but I didn’t get a picture of it. I even got myself in there modeling the hat for you 😉 While knitting the scarf from the set

Craft & Tell ~ April 26

I’ve been crafting away … again. I figured out how to make the fabric boxes firm by combining two tutorials. I still have 3 more boxes to go so when they are complete I’ll reveal them all at once. Remember the car race track I did for my kids? Here’s the tutorial for it. Well, I decided to complete the applique fire truck, police car, ambulance and pond. I went onto the computer for some graphics and printed them out. I then got out my handy dandy scissors and cut out the shapes in felt that I had to make

Craft & Tell

I have been a busy crafting gal. Please read the bottom because I need your help!! These are the curtains I’ve been working on for my mother and father-in-laws room. They were thrilled so I’m happy. I have new, sturdier curtain rods we’ll need to install with a center support and proper brackets (instead of the bold that is holding the current rod up). I used black-out lining too so it should make the room pretty AND dark. Nothing like light coming in when you are trying to catch some zzzzz’s. I also finished the chair covers I’ve been mulling

Craft & Tell

I’ve been busy creating this week. I want to share these creations with the following … Sew & Tell Fridays with amylouwho, Get Inspired! with So Dang Cute, and Super Crafty Saturdays with One Crafty Mommy. Go check them out to see what others have created this week, too (but not after reading my creations, of course). I finished crocheting this adorable vest for Travis this week (it’s a little big because I want him to be able to wear it in the Fall as well). He kept running away from so these are the best shots I could get.
