This is a fantastic reference. This first-time quilter really appreciated the tips and is currently implementing them on my first quilt! So far so good.

Hi there! I couldn't find a way to email you directly, but you asked if I stitched my quilt in the ditch first… no, I did not. I don't usually do stitch in the ditch because the pattern itself will already emphasize those lines… I just stitch whatever pattern I am doing right on top. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your visit to my blog and your kind words about my purple Love Birds quilt. I wanted to email you in response to your question, but you are a "no-reply blogger", so it is isn't possible to email you. Anyway, you asked about the quilting that I did – I did not quilt in the ditch, I just pin-basted like crazy and did free-motion quilting in a swirly pattern all over the quilt. I used two colours of purple thread, a lighter one in the centre and a darker one around the border, since I wanted the thread to blend as well as it could. Cheers,
