Story Saturday

Since I love to read I thought this would be a great place to share reviews on books I’ve recently read and updates on what I am currently reading.

For this week’s “Story Saturday” I wanted to discuss Canada Reads 2009. I heard about this from my monthly “Books and Breakfast” group at the local library. Basically, Canada Reads is a week-long show that has five celebrity panelists defend their favourite Canadian work of fiction. Day by day, books are voted off the list, until one panelist triumphs with the book for Canada to read this year. I am going to make an effort to read all five of the titles this year (I have already read one and enjoyed it).

The half-hour debates will air on CBC Radio One from March 2 to March 6, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and will be available online or via podcast.

I know I am going to tune in!

  1. Hey! I love the new design on the blog, by the way, it’s lovely – and your header picture is super cute!! 🙂

Right now I’m trying to read through the four books that I’m supposed to assign as literature circles in my grade 10 English class – I liked the first one, called “Rule of the Bone” by Russell Banks, the second one way okay, “Song of Kahunsha” by Anosh Irani, and I’m LOVING the third one I’m reading right now called “The Darkest Child” by Delores Phillips.

I’ll have to get to the Canada Reads picks after I’m done all of these ones!

  2. Ohh, I love the idea of Story Saturday! I LOVE to read, too, and actually wrote about that just hours ago on my own blog (beckyandjames.com).
I will be following you and am looking forward to more book selections from you!

  3. Caralin,
Thanks for taking the photo that is making me famous around the world-wide-web ;~) Do you know how I can give you credit for taking the photo by putting in a “photo taken by Caralin Ruth”?

What genre are the novels that you are reading. They sound so deep and daunting for a highschool kid!
